If you weren't a fan of Resident Evil 5, then there's no doubt you have heard most of the complaints in this article. Hell, you probably agree with most of them. So what does Capcom need to change for Resident Evil 6? Bloody-disgusting.com have a few ideas.
Go to the source for the full article.
By the time you finish reading this unnecessarily lengthy article you’ll probably think that I hated Resident Evil 5. So I’m going to dispel that erroneous notion right now. I really enjoyed the game and give props to Capcom for investing so much money and faith into this franchise. However, when you compare this game to its predecessor, Resident Evil 4 (did you really need me to name the game?), this game really can’t compare. If some important figure at Capcom is reading you have permission to use any of the following gems of knowledge I’m about to gift you. Should you find them extraordinarily useful when developing this sequel you also have permission to call me. Seriously. Maybe we could go out to dinner sometime. Maybe a movie after that. I’ll treat you right.

The action thing wouldn't have felt so random if they hadn't advertised RE5 as "Fear you won't forget." Yeeeaaaah...........
I like the way the games play but they feel like they should be operating under a different IP. RE does need to take a step back and work with what made the series popular in the first place.
Let them keep it an action title for all I care. The co-op is decent enough.
Also, I don't think anyone here is really saying Dead Space was scary. Like, "I'm afraid to move" scary, it's just spooky. It sets you on edge. It's awesome. I love letting down my guard and letting a game get under my skin. You have to play Dead Space in the pitch black, alone, at night, with a booming 5.1 system. There's just no other way to play. It's so exhilarating.
And I hope you didn't just play the freaking demo.
But to be on topic, I don't consider RE4 or 5 RE anymore. It's not the same and it's a damn shame. They could have banked off the RE brand name and not added a numerical value to it and I would have been fine and so would have everyone else. But when they added that 4 and 5 to the game they completely *bleep*ed everything up. Just like Dino Crisis 3.
DAMN YOU CAPCOM! You take some of my most beloved series and destroy them. You make a good game, but you destroy my association with a brand!!
The game pissed me off but didn't scare me, I jumped a tiny littl bit twice. The first time a alien/monster (forgot what they are called) that I thought was dead jumped up at me and the very end of the game.
I fail to see how the game could put anyone on edge (not as a whole but because of my experience with it) with 20 damn enemies around every corner. To be scary it needs medium to few enemies so that you never know when and enemy is going to jump out at you.Or keep them out of sight in a room until they jump right at your face.Take RE: CVX, the Bandersnatches scared the shit out of me because you would enter a silent room with no enemies in view and the next second an arm would fly across the screen and smack you on your arse.THAT is scary, not facing your 10th monster in one room every second room you enter.Music can also add to scare factor.
The origina RE4 concept was a shit ton scarier than DS and all anyone has seen of that is a video.
I find VERY few games or movies scary.I can almost never be scared my games with monsters because they aren't real so I don't fear them (though I found Cold Fear rather creepy).Ghosts on the other hand which I believe in scare me in horror games.
The silent Hill games are creepy and disturbing and very tense, so much so that I can only play them for a small while before having to play something happy and colourful after.SH games depress me.
Project Zero (Fatal Frame) scared me so much that I never finished it.
Fear is something that differs to different people. My friend was terrified by DS and I thought that was hilarious because I failed to find it scary.Even games that aren't supposed to be scary can scare certain people.Tomb Raider 2 absolutely scared me INSANELY bad because of an underwater level that was almost completely pitch black with Great White Sharks which I love but am terrified of.Tomb Raider Underworld also scared me because I had to jump into water filled with sharks.Or when the GIANT squid tentacle drew into a hole. That scared me because of the aforementioned lack of enemies.
Believe it or not but others are like me, they too din't find DS scary.Just because YOU thought DS was scary doesn't mean EVERYONE will find it scary.
Also, it has nothing to do with enemy placement or amount and everything to do with sound design that puts you on edge. Dead Space is up there with Silent Hill in that realm.
Also, your comment about Silent Hill seriously disturbing you really makes me not believe you about Dead Space. As I said, I don't think anyone here thinks Dead Space is "scary" but it absolutely is creepy when all the sound design and stuff comes together.
It means nothing to me that you don't care if I believe you, but let the record show that I think you're trying too hard and not being completely honest. Playing a game of semantics rather than just being upfront about things.
I hope they go back to RE's SH roots for the game.
Honesty and truth are two of the things I believe in the most along with loyalty. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would ALL tell you that if I I tell you something then it is 100% the truth.I don't even lie to get out of trouble.I don't even like playing jokes on people that involve not being honest because I like to be truthful with everyone, even if I don't know them I am almost 100% unable to be dishonest.
Do you not understand what I said about different people being scared by different things?
The reason SH scares me and DS doesn't is the fact that you you usually play as someopne who has just woken up and doesn't know where the hell they are.Again it scares me because that is another fear of mine. That is being in an unknown place and not knowing hwo to leave.
I am always up front because I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks. There was a Net Yaroze game ( a game made with special PS1's) that TERRIFIED the hell out of me.Now my sister thought it was HILARIOUS that I found it scary.I was even about 15 at the time which meant it was even funnier seeing as my sis didn't find it scary and she's 7 years younger than I.
I think it was the scary ambient music was teh MAJOR part of the game that scared me)
Hell I will even give you a link to a vid of the game and I bet you yourself will laugh your arse off at the fact that I could haved been terrified by such a crappy game.

It should also prove my point that just because one person finds something scar doesn't mean everyone else will.
If it is then whatever, if it helps you sleep at night thinking that I am bullshitting about your SO scary/creepy, whatever game that is as scary as seeing a hot chick undress in front of you then knock yourself out.
Now I just need my uncle to return an actual scary game so I can start playing it again and hide under the blankets while I am haunted by scary as shit ghosts.
So little games scare me that I could probably tell you every instant a game has scared me.
I play horror games to be scared and am saddened every time I play ANOTHER horror game that I don't find scary.Hell RE4 I wanted it to be scary so much that around the 10th time though the game my brain seemed to tell me it was scary.
Believe me I wish I was like all you people that are easily scared.Hell I have scary nightmares and I enjoy them, not be frightened them.
Oh and
I'll just say that ignorance is bliss so you must be a very blissful person
Now is there such thing as double ironic!?
PS my turds are scarier than DS
