Recently Kyle LaCroix of Insert-Disc played through the 2006 release, Sonic the Hedgehog and discovered something. It was the worst game he had ever played in his entire life. Here in part 1 of his series about the game he prepares you for the horror stories to come.

Sonic games began dropping in quality with Sonic Heroes. Heroes was fun in some spots, but could really only be called “okay”. Then Shadow the Hedgehog was released and it seemed the series had hit rock bottom. Then Sonic 06 happened and we discovered just how low SEGA could go. Universally reviled, the game was considered a complete mess by all, but until you actually play it you can not know how much the reviews sugarcoated things.

It's not that horrible, Lmao. Loading times were a bitch and the town missions were slighlty dull but it WAS a good effort.

Saying that I still actually hate Sonic.

Moving the camera in this game is frustrating enough alone. Why does it have to be so slow SEGA?!

I actually really enjoyed Silver's segments. Plus his theme was awesome. So it wasn't THAT bad, but I haven't played it since I finished it, so...

The Main menu theme was awesome, otherwise the game was a buggy piece of crap. Sonic Unleashed I think is much better

I'm a die-hard Sonic fanboy so I enjoyed Sonic 06. I also liked Unleashed. Nighttime levels were stupid of course. Hopefully Sega got the message and come next Sonic game it will be nothing but a bunch of "daytime" levels

Dude, i'm a Sonic fanboy too, but Sonic 2006 was fail, for a Sonic game. I want something like Sonic Adventure 2. I spent a year's worth of time on that game from the ages of 9-13. I loved that game. With the Multi player and the Chao function, it was amazing for a GameCube/Dreamcast game. If they make a game like that multiplatfrom; of course; with DLC characters for mulitplayer or DLC stages for singles player, that would be dope. Sega can do it. But they're wasting their time on spin-off titles. And stupid shit like that. UGH, SEGA.
