Kyle of Insert-Disc takes a look at the upcoming game for the PlayStation 3, Yakuza 3, and its unfortunate release date that might lead to its failure.

The Yakuza series has constantly been mishandled by SEGA in North America. The first game was billed as “Grand Theft Auto, but with Yakuza“, despite the game having almost nothing in common with Grand Theft Auto. The second game was marketed poorly and released on the PlayStation 2 last September, so it unsurprisingly sold poorly. No one was expecting Yakuza 3 to ever come out over here. Recently, however, they did announce it was coming to North America. I was ecstatic, until they said what month they were planning on releasing it in: March.

It's not just Yakuza...Sega has marketed a lot of their games poorly. They published an RTS game earlier in the year that received very little coverage.

The only thing that Sega seems to be promoting like crazy is Bayonetta.

God damnit Sega, do you WANT Yakuza to fail again!? I can't believe how they're mishandling this great series!
