Call of Duty Black Ops Voted ‘Best Game Ending’ Of All Time
13 hours 20 mins ago
This is a feature editorial from gaming website PlanetXbox360.com revolving around the year 2010, and what Microsoft will bring to the table to help continue pushing the Xbox 360 into the number one slot (as it did in 2009).
Out with the old and in with the new is the usual quid pro quo that comes at the end of each year and with everything gamers have been exposed to, 2009 will without a doubt be a tough act to follow. However, as Microsoft Game Studios flaunts what the 360 has to offer, the console stands to seize the market and become the centerpiece of the game industry in 2010. As Microsoft continues to provide a seemingly endless supple of new quality content and numerous choice exclusives, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the treat gamers are in for come next year. Conversely, Project Natal stands to revolutionize how video games move players along with how we enjoy our overall entertainment experience when it comes to the 360. Last but not least, the continued support and updates via Xbox Live ensure that as long as developers want to, they really can provide a vast, indefinite amount of additional content to their choice audiences. Thus, it becomes evident that the Xbox 360 really does stand to reshape the industry as a whole and remain a leader in the gaming community throughout the span of 2010.

But both of y'all are wrong, I WON 2009 AND 2010! Red came in second though...
Anyway, they're kind of overstating a lot of things here. They're acting like the PS3 isn't releasing a single game in 2010. Plus there's no way of knowing whether or not Natal will "revolutionize" gaming any more than we know the Sony PS3 motion wandy-stick will.
But really, the whole "Year of Such-and-Such" is altogether stupid.
Yup, the real ones who own the year, are the ones who get the most out of it.
Ughh, can't we just wait until we hear what Microsofts/Sony's plans are?
Mass Effect 2, Gears of War 3, Halo: Reach, Fable 3, Natal, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Crackdown 2. Quite a bit to look forward to
Next (or this year) is looking to be very open. No idea who will win
Its to have 5 player co-op from memory.
Halo Reach may not see a 2010 release. Alan Wake looks cool, Conviction doesn't look very good, it should have stayed the way it was. Chaos Theory is the best, Double Agent sucked. Crackdown might be cool for fans. I doubt you see Fable 3 in 2010. Gears definitely hasn't been announced for 2010, and if it does come out in 2010, I'd be upset if I were you guys. Make them put some more time into it. Gears 2 was too much of the same.
The point is though, PS3 is going to see multiple HUGE releases.
This year is EXTREMELY equal anything Sony is releasing Microsoft has a game up against it and vice versa. I'm looking forward to seeing how all games will come out.
I would venture to guess most PC gamers that own consoles own PS3s and not 360s because they can get most of the games that come out on the 360. That's why that's a significant detail.
And yeah, Conviction has become nothing more to me than your standard third person shooter with a little stealth mixed in. Now he's all rough and tough, the whole kill everyone you mark thing looks pretty weak too. Where's the skill that used to be required in the previous Splinter Cell games? They ditched their fanbase, just like Resident Evil. And hey, that might have been a good idea for them financially. RE has sold more now than they ever have. Still doesn't make me happy.
Also, the year which the Wii finally shat itself (didn't have a single good game out this year).
Most of the big releases this year were multiplatform (Assassin's Creed 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Modern Warfare 2, Arkham Asylum etc.), with very little difference.
You did have Demon's Souls, I'll give you that.
To state that this year will be no different definitely wouldn't be the truth, because well. . . . what determines whether one console dominates and another doesn't?
I mean despite the Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, Killzone 2, Demon's Souls and more, all of which were GOTY nominated titles (and winners). The PS3 still has so much more lined up for this year, with God of War 3, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo 5, Heavy Rain, Agent and Resistance 3 to name more than few. Some may even argue 2010 is an even bigger year for Sony than 2009 was.
If even half the games Sony has lined up this year are as good as billed Sony will yet again be onto a winner in this new year. It will be close though as both Sony and Microsoft have valued franchises and new IP's going head to head, it will all be uncertain which platform will overall have the best releases in 2010. Though I for one cannot wait.
Besides, I thought the Dreamcast was gonna take 2010?
2010 looks like a great year for both consoles. From what I've seen so far, it looks like I'll be spending more on video games between now and March than I did in all of 2009.
Hell, if Nintendo bring out a new Zelda game in 2010, I'd put them on par with the 360/PS3.
Xbox360 Exclusives this year - Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars, Forza 3, Ballad of Gay Tony, Star Ocean IV, Shadow Complex etc.
PS3 Exclusives this year - Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, Infamous, Demon's Souls, Rachet and Clank, Flower, Fat Princess etc.
Its obvious that PS3 had a better year exclusitivity wise, I don't think anyone denies that. You might even say that PS3 won this year, but is one good year really enough to undo a few years of, not lackluster, but years that weren't bursting with AAA titles like this year? Whilst Microsoft have been (for the most part)?
I still maintain that most of the AAA released this year have been multiplatform, so the 360 exclusives VS Ps3 excluvies aren't enough to 'totally blow away the competition to smitherines'. Yes PS3 had exclusives this year, you'd have to be an idiot not to see that, but we have to take into account previous history also if you're talking about 'PS3 is better than Xbox360' or vice versa.
Sony are certainly onwards and upwards (2009 easily being their best year), and it seems like next year they're gonna continue and become even better (with God of War 3, Heavy Rain, MAG, Gran Turismo 5, White Knight Chronicles, 3D Dot Hero etc.).
But on the same token, I'm sure you'll admit that over the last 3 or so years before 2009 Sony hasn't had as many AAA titles in one year, they've been more spread out, where as Microsoft (not them directly obviously, I mean publishers etc.) have done quite well pushing out AAA titles out on a semi regular basis, much more regularly than Sony.
What I'm trying to say is (in this rather long post lol) that PS3 definately had the better year exclusive wise this year, its definately up their with Microsoft now (hence why I bought a PS3 this year, previously owning a Wii and a 360), which they've been a tad behind in recent years, and it looks like 2010 is gonna be even better than 2009 (but admittedly Microsoft's AAA line-up this year craps all over last years). So, en garde I say, bring 2010 on
Plus I remind you that if you go on facts alone Nintendo are still winning lol.
And on accustation that I think Uncharted 2 is overrated... I do. This is from hands on experience, I own a PS3 for gods sakes and have this game. I found that Uncharted 2 (to me anyways) felt like they tried to combine Mass Effect's over the shoulder gunplay (okay, pretty much any over-the-shoulder shooter that you could take cover) with Assassin's Creed style platforming/climbing sections. The gunplay was nothing to write home about (though I'm not much of a shooter fan so maybe that is just an opinion), I was much more into the platforming sections and collecting (which were very good in this game, the reason I bought it). The story itself isn't amazing, though adequate (though I must admit Nathan Drake is one of the most annoying characters of all time lol), the online is ok but not in the CoD league (but then again what is). And yes the game looks very nice (probably the best looking game I own atm) but what doesn't these days, having amazing graphics isn't a great selling point. Its like a magpie picking up a shiny object, its only good until it finds a shinier object, then you have to fall back on core gameplay, which is very functionally but not revolutionary.
And by this I don't mean that its bad, its a good game (I don't think you could hate Uncharted 2) but I personally don't think its up with Dragon Age and Batman Arkham Asylum (my two GotY choices, and both multiplatform incidently).
"Hey, you know how there are a million articles about 'the year of the PS3', right? How about we change the title to 'the year of the 360'!"
"
I'm not even giving 360 a looking this year, sorry God Of War, MGS: Peace Walker & Heavy Rain will be all I need to pass my first university term
Only game I exempt from shun: Splinter Cell as me is a big fan of Mr Fisher.
