Take a look at a first hand account of a gamer who actually set a Guinness World Record for the Longest LAN Party. 36 hours of non-stop gaming is one thing, but having little to no sleep to prepare before is even more alarming. Find out our challenges and triumphs in this exclusive piece.

NVIDIA and Guinness World Records were offering VISA Gift Cards, high-end computer peripherals and memory, entrance to the expo, a custom shirt, free food and beverage service throughout the attempt and an official medal and custom-made plaque to hold the record certificate to top it all off. I'd also receive exclusive Guinness World recorder branded Nike Presto shoes. Even better: My company would be paying me for my gaming experience, because it was a great way to promote and recruit for the business (I was a gaming recruiter in a former life.)

Love stories like this. Though is 36 hours of gaming really that hard? I swear I closed around that time during my days of addiction to WOW!

36 hours is pretty nuts. i could go maybe 18 before i got tired or just plain sick of sitting in front of a TV. of course im not a big fan of energy drinks, which may have helped them.

though if the goal was to break a world record, i might be able to force myself to do it.

Dude you really need to cut down on adds or cut down on your bandwidth. Full screen ads are like the worst you can get.

    Good read though.

I think it would be pretty fun to go to one of these things, Ill probably just drop out after 12 hours or something though.
