Zelda Sucks, Darksiders Rules

Jim Sterling of destructoid.com, discusses how Zelda is a terrible series of games when compared to Darksiders. Read on to see the comparisons and see what you think.

Darksiders is considered by many to be a great game, albeit one that suffers from an intense case of plagiarism. Comparisons to the The Legend of Zelda run amok, with even the game's developer, Vigil, happily confessing to borrowing gameplay elements from the classic Nintendo franchise.

Let us at least try and be honest here. If you've played one Zelda game, you've played them all. Some stupid little elf starts off doing nothing, goes to a dungeon, gets a boomerang, gets a hookshot, gets a bow, gets big boots, fights Ganondorf and then the game's over. The pacing, the setting, the characters, practically everything in a new Zelda game is a mirror image of the last.

    Wow is the guy writing the article being stupid on purpose? Darksiders didn't invent the Portal Gun, Portal did. <_>

      If you read the article, you would notice it was being at least semi-sarcastic.

      "During a visit to a clandestine organization called Aperture Science, War gets a magical weapon that allows him to create two holes that are linked together, allowing him to walk through one wall and come out the other. Fantastically brainteasing puzzles ensue as our intrepid hero tries to escape the clutches of GLaDOS."

    I didn't bother reading it as it sounded like some stupid fanboy article. However, I will agree that Darksiders is awesome.

    Zelda is a classic though. Nothing can touch it.

      It's Destructoid, they try to be controversial.

      And I agree, Darksiders rules, but that's no reason to discount Zelda. After all, the creators likely enjoyed Zelda themselves growing up.

      Same but when I actually read the article it's just a huge troll. Pretty funny actually but obviously not to be taken seriously as the author isn't even being serious.

    I get the feeling this is one of those shock value titles that exaggerates the authors true feelings in order to get attention.

    Too bad I don't give a shit enough to read it.

    Its okay that to think that Darksiders is better than Legend of Zelda (in some ways it is and some ways its not)... But to diss something like the Legend of Zelda franchise (which like it or not is one of the best selling and popular franchises of all time) is like dissing your dead grandmother, its just distasteful.

    note: I intend on getting Darksiders as my next gaming purchase (along with Borderlands).

    My god. What a horrible article. It lists Darksiders as creating the Portal Gun. COME ON. PORTAL CREATED THE PORTAL GUN.

    Borderlands has a Shiny cover aswell, and it came out before Darksiders.

    His Horse and sword are meant to look cool. Come on, a chaotic weapon/steed from hell is going to look shiny and pretty?

        If you read the artcle you would realise the whole thing is just a huge piss take. Whether the writer like Zelda or not is unknown but the actual article is blatantly just taking the piss to troll fanboys.
