gamesradar.com has put together a very interesting article concerning the new year of 2010. They picked four guys, four consoles and five reasons why each will dominate the coming year. Go to the source to read all about if your favourite console might win this year!

As of this writing, we’re already three weeks into 2010. The “new” year is already practically ancient, and pretty soon we’ll have run out of time to make wild, erratic, entirely factual predictions about things that will happen over the next 11 months. So with January nearly over, we’re going for the jugular and answering the question that’s on everyone’s mind: between the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and PC, which gaming platform will claim victory by the end of this year.

Experts anticipate that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will sell approximately ten bajillion copies and make your penis bigger

Well not to saound too optimistic but GOWIII is enough to sway anyones opinion. There's nothing that will beat the awesomeness of that game this year.

Oh yeah, and Heavy Rain and The Last Guardian.

Mass Effect 2 is going to make them all look like text based adventure games
Although I'll admit that I've never had a bad time with a God of War game and I'm sure this one will be likewise epic.

I'll admit I've never played Mass Effect, but I fail to see the appeal it has over these games, unless its a game similar to that of MGS.

It'll only be one of the biggest releases all year, so if you don't see the appeal to it, then you REALLY aren't looking that hard. It's easily the biggest competition to Game of the Year to GOWIII and I don't doubt it winning.

I'd say GOW3 has a better chance considering it's had a series history of blowing people's socks off, whereas ME (while still wildly successful) was definitely not without its flaws.

But *bleep*, I don't give a damn since both games are available to me anyway.

Mass Effect 2 is a big hype release but in terms of quality it really seems to be getting quite mixed reviews so far from the people that cheated to get it ahead of time. That said, games usually need to actually have good reviews to win game of the year, not just big hype.

I think GTAIV kind of proved the exception there, on more than one front. Not only did it get insanely good review it didn't deserve, but it also got GOTY at the VGAs over MGS4.

9.6 from IGN and I've yet to see a review below 9. Have any links to something other than a blogger? And I'm not saying that like "Pf, something you can't do, I win" kind of way. Like, I've been trying to find reviews but the only major ones I've seen are OXM and IGN.

I don't even understand your point, Red 9. The first Mass Effect was showered with awards and praise. What else did it need?

I honestly don't care enough about the subject to go into details and argue over it. I see no requirement to need to prove anything.

I'm sorry, I can't stop myself from laughing at you trusting a review from IGN over blog reviews or just regular people in general.

Yeah just trusting regular people. IGN is biased but regular people sure wouldn't be. I don't see why it's obvious that someone should be cynical of one and not the other. Like I should read a review of a 360 game by Krunal cause he's a regular ol' blogger? You obviously don't care about the game and'll think it's bad regardless, so why bother?

I don't know how people can even still care.

How about Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 both have great games and are both going to dominate the Wii this year. Although they will both struggle dominating each other with such great gaming line ups.

Lets not be so spectacle or single out any consoles here. The 360 and PS3 will be competing, but that in no way leaves the PC and Wii behind. Lets not forget Command and Conquer 4, Starcraft II, and the fact that Mass Effect is still also on the PC. And as for the Wii, you'd have to be insane to say that Mario Galaxy 2, Other M, the new Zelda game, and No More Heroes 2 aren't going to be strong competitors. Or your just one of those people who are too "cool" to care about the Wii's lineup.

Indeed, I prefer to be bifocal.

I don't count the Wii, why? Because every year it's the same crap from Nintendo.

Galaxy 2 is Galaxy 1 with the added element of Yoshi. Other M looks damn awful and knowing Team Ninja it'll be focused around Samus having massive breasts and imho Zelda has lost it's greatness ever since Wind Waker.

Of course you can hate whatever games you want, infact it is opinions like that which keep the competition of these consoles going. But this isn't really about one opinion. This is about competition and masses of audiences' opinions on the games, and while you may not like Nintendo franchises (which is perfectly fine) a lot of people do. And no, I am not referring to Wii Play/Sports/Fit, I am referring to how Twilight Princess won numerous GoTY awards (despite being a Gamecube port) and we are probably going to see the same results for this new Zelda game, Super Mario Galaxy hitting high notes and universal acclaim from almost every reviewer and setting the bar that will most likely be crossed with the sequel (and please do some research before saying Mario Galaxy 2 only has Yoshi, that has to be the most ignorant thing I've heard today), Metroid Prime 3 doing the same and boosting our confidence enough that they hype and growing potential for a game like Other M is easily high, etc.

You can say you won't be buying anything for the Wii (I say the same for the 360) but that doesn't make it any less of a competitor. Hell, even if I was literally the only one here defending that point, sales alone prove that a game was (or wasn't) successful (profit wise at least). But please, lets stop hating a console just for the sake of hating it (this goes for more than just the Wii by the way) and actually focus on a game's exclusive lineup before spouting out how there's a 1/20 possibility that the games will suck.

EDIT: Thanks for calling me on that typo Hideo, fixed it.

@ Daweii. Hooray for the voice of sanity. I freely admit that the only thing stopping me getting a PS3 is finances, and there are lots of PS3 games I'd love to get my hands on.

Can't we just accept that all three will be awesome?

    Except the Wii

Mass Effect 2 vs GOWIII... That is gonna be a close call indeed. I suppose it just comes down to your preference of the two genres, but knowing the amount of fanboys that belong to each platform chances are there is going to be huge scale arguments no matter who ends up winning more GoTY awards.

Last time I checked the only time a console has EVER "dominated" a year was the 360 in 2005. And that was because it was the ONLY next-gen console out their.

Why, WHY are these articles allowed!?

Man Gamecrep is losing it's integrity

I think the word Dominate is just more for fanboy food and interesing speculation of consoles fans than an actually statement. Look at every platform's line up and I can tell you, no one is going to dominate. Not only are a lot of the great games this year multiplatform, but each platform has enough exclusives to compete with each other and keep the GoTY awards a mystery.

Whichever console "wins" (I use quotes because that phrase is used pretty loosely in the system wars) it will be a close call.

I can't stand not being able to play SC: Conviction on my PS3.

Yes I know theres the slightly very good chance that it'll get a port sometimes next year, but I want it NOW!!! It's the only game thats nearly pushed me to buying an Xbox360.

I don't wanna though cause then I'd have forked out £180 to play A (not even a numbers worth) game. Then pay further subscription to play online.

And before someone starts posting the rest of the exclusives, don't cause they don't particularly matter to me. Forza III & L4D2 the only exceptions.

Why not just buy L4D2 for PC? It doesn't really take a good PC to run well either, I mean the Source engine is old enough that even weaker PCs can run it fine.
