Kyle of Insert-Disc takes a look at the oft-forgotten game Sonic the Hedgehog for the Game Gear and Sega Master System in part II of his Sonic the Hedgehog Retrospective.

I actually prefer the Master System version of Sonic the Hedgehog. It may not go as fast, and it may not look or sound as good, but the level design is a lot better. It’s worth noting that I played the Game Gear version prior to writing this article. The Game Gear version has a much smaller resolution than its console counterpart, but it still works just fine for the most part. A few jumps are trickier, but the game works perfectly fine.
