With all the buzz about the upcoming release of Sonic the Hedgehog 4, it appears as though a Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has been in existence since 1996. It is actually just a hack of the SNES game Speedy Gonzales: Los Gatos Bandidos. A video of the gameplay can be found at the source.

"As you can see in the photo to the right, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was made for the Super Nintendo. Blasphemous, I know! As you might imagine, this was in no way an official product, and was sold mostly in black markets and in regions where piracy wasn't really an issue."

Weird but pretty cool. I don't get why he had Mario in it. But than again it was a hack so it wouldn't make sense anyways.

Woah, really? Where did you get your hands on it, haha? I would think this hack would be pretty hard to come across.

I think there was a Sonic 6 on GameBoy, another hack of a Speedy Gonzales game. It too involved Sonic saving small Marios from cages.
