IGN interview a select few of the gaming industry's developers and publishers (From companies such as Blizzard, Rocksteady, Capcom and Ubisoft) and ask them for their opinions on the future of gaming.

Australia, February 15, 2010 - IGN has done a number of features over the last month or so looking back at gaming over the last decade, but now it's time to look forward. A fair way forward; to 2020. How will gaming change over the next ten years? Will motion controls become the norm? How important will 3D TVs become? How far along will digital distribution be? How about streaming content and gaming in the cloud? How will online gaming change? What about mobile? Will we all be playing jet-pack-holo-games on the moon?

I am interested to see the results of some research into 3D TV. Early speculation is that over exposure is going to be very harmful to your vision.

Great article, thanks for the link and news. Makes perfect sense . . and after hearing Robbie Bach the other day here in Sydney at the New University of Sydney Law Auduitorium, taking on Technology and the future of games and entertainment, I can see huge relevance in these comments.

Then watching the new movie Gamer, it drives the message home even further as to what 'could' happen if it got out of control, or into the hands of with no scrupals etc.

One line that I'd like to take out of the article is that of Paul Denning, which is "Now if only we can get the politicians into gaming!" - which is so true. There was a big appeal recently (Past year or so) I believe for the government to recognise and acknowledge the enormity of gaming here within the UK, a columnist for a respected newspaper (Which I can't for the life of me remember) wrote an article about it which made so much sense, I'll see if I can find it and post it here.

One of the best articles IGN's churned out in quite a while.
