Gears of War is no doubt one of the biggest titles on the Xbox 360. With the first being an absolute smash hit and the second, whilst selling like hotcakes, being slightly disappointing, the third game in the series, which some expect to be announced at this years E3, has huge expectations on it. Can it be the definitive Gears of War experience? We hope so. In this article, John from All Age Gaming looks at his wants, expectations and possible surprises for Gears of War 3.

I get very butthurt when it comes to Gears of War so I only skimmed through the article and I agree that GOW3 needs a 4 player co-op mode and NO LAG/DEDICATED SERVERS/AN ACTUAL REGION FILTER. However, saying that 4 is the perfect team size for online and that anything larger and it's just like MW2 (Slightly out of context, I know) I disagree with. The maps are too large for only 8 players, I prefer 10.

As long as the campaign is brilliant (Which I am positive it will be) and I get a decent connection in every/the majority of my online games then I'll be happy.

GOW is God of War. It was here first so it keeps the title. Gears of War is Gears. So this is Gears 3, not GOW3.

Wow and you call me a fanboy.

          LOL, any excuse, eh?

Unlike me, you are. The only reason I mentioned it is because I saw GOW3 in his post and was rather confused, hence why the system of calling GodOW GOW and GearsOW Gears was first put in place, since having two of todays most popular gaming series having the same acronym is just a mind*bleep*, ya sap.

How could you have possibly been confused? The article didn't mention God of War at all, so the fact that you were actually confused is a real mind*bleep*.

Because I've NEVER seen anyone refer to Gears as anything other than Gears, so my mind automatically jumped to GodOW instead. It's not a difficult concept lad.

GoW, Gears, GeOW are all used in referencing Gears of War, again, mind*bleep* why you're confused. It's like saying Assassin's Creed can't be AC because of Animal Crossing or Armored Core.

          quote
Because I've NEVER seen anyone refer to Gears as anything other than Gears
If someone pointed at the sky and said it was red, you'd have to wait a second and think 'what the hell?' in a general mind*bleep* fashion.

I, personally, have never seen anyone refer to Gears as GoW so when I saw it, it was a mind*bleep*

And if Animal Crossing or Armored Core shared the same audience and were as popular as Assassin's Creed the simple fact is people would call one AC and the other ACore or whatever, to avoid confusion in other situations. God you're dense.

Isn't that like a generic article for every shooter sequel? Improved plot? Check. Improved co-op? Check. More tactical? Check. More guns? Check. Improve the multiplayer? Check. Map Editor? Check.

Yeah, looks like they covered the basics. Fantastic article. And with that frustration vented, I'll comment.

Improved plot? The plot was fine in the last two games, if a bit short, it got the job done. Improved co-op and multiplayer? That's standard, and they can't do worse than Gears 2 multi. More guns? Expected. Map editor? Just wouldn't fit with this game. Make the campaign brilliant, as Guugley said, and cut back on the lag, and the game will be fine.

Gears of War 2 is a better game than Gear of War.

I know, right? Gears of War 2 was awesome and Gear of War was pathetic... it only had ONE gear!

I hope they do the whole thing where you have to have achievements from other games.

(Like getting RAAM for Gears 2, maybe you can get a character from Gears 2 achievements)

But er, I like the multiplayer and don't know why everyone hates it.

    Want: Gears of War 1
    Expectation: Gears of War 2
Known Result: More blood and gore, slower gameplay, laggier multiplayer.

Not even going to preorder it, Gears as a series is dead.

I want to play a Locust campaign in Gears 3.

    BRUMAKBRUMAKBRUMAK.

Vehicles for multiplayer would be nice too.

I think a Locust campaign in GOW3 would be great, not too sure about vehicles, they might just ruin it.

Locust campaign and vehicles would both ruin it.

          Pessimist.

Isn't it about time we figured out WHY the locust are doing what they do? We can be them in MP, but not in SP?

And vehicles would rock. Brumak was so badass.

    Guugley Feb 17, 10
@Dragon Shi: The Brumak was cool, but it was an 'exclusive' moment in the game. If Epic make another 1 or more scenes of the game where you get to ride the Brumak then they will have over-done it. I'm not a pessimist, I just know what I like from games. We can find out perfectly well what the Locust are doing from the COG side of the story.

Man, I think I'm the only person in the world who thought Gears 2 was a lot better than Gears 1.

Horde mode was a major plus and has caught on quickly - in practically every multiplayer game (ODST, Left 4 Dead, Modern Warfare 2) - something else like that could do wonders.

Gears 1 was amazing at release but now I just prefer pretty much every multiplayer aspect about Gears 2. The GOW1 campaign is much better though.
