This article looks at whether or not the Nintendo Wii can continue to dominate game sales throughout the year 2010, and if so what the reasons are for that superiority over the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 sales.

Since the Nintendo Wii has released to the gaming public numerous issues have plagued it, but those may turn around come 2010. When the system released, it was notoriously impossible for anyone who wanted one to get their hands on it, unless they were willing to pay the innumerable finder’s fee that one is prone to suffer at the hands of eBay. However, as time went on and Nintendo dealt with the relative shortage, gamers everywhere found themselves owning the system and not really sure what the hell to do with it. It was like finally getting your hands on a Unicorn and leaving it contentedly sitting in the stable, eating hay, day in and out until maybe you might take it out for a 20 minute ride before repeating this cycle in another month or six. Nonetheless, Nintendo just may stand out enough, producing the console to own come January 2011. Why should you buy a Wii if you don’t already own one? Simple, if you owned an NES, Super Nintendo or N64 throughout your childhood and are not averse to paying for your nostalgia then the Wii will be the system gamers will want to own.

Yeah, but in terms of games, I'd say it's one of least dominating console.

Doesn't the Wii have one of the lowest sale rates for most games, excluding First Party anyway?

It's dominating in console sales, but not sure about the games themselves.

If you've ever been past the Wii games rack at any electronics store, I swear it's like I walked into goddamn Alice in Wonder-frickin'-land.

The way I see it, Nintendo set themselves up to really cash in big this generation at the cost of potential failure with the next generation.

That is how I see it as well. They have this generation locked up, but the next generation is worrisome for Nintendo. They have to release the next console first if they want a chance...

At this point it hardly matters whether it does or doesn't, Nintendo's base of operations is probably built out of stacks of money by now.

To be honest, the Wii's main good points, in my opinion, are the Virtual Consoles. But to speak for the games, the only selling point for the Wii in terms of games, are the first-party releases. Made for the Wii. And there aren't many of them that are good. At this point, the only reason I still have my Wii is for the VCs and a few select games.

The Wii is simple and niche.

    People like simple and niche.

However by now everyone and their *bleep*ing mother owns a Wii, so I'll say no it won't. 2010 will be the year of its downfall and by 2011 most of the non-gamers they aimed at will have forgotten about them.

Hopefully Ninty will come crawling back... unless they release the Nintendo Poop; you play it completely with your... voice, or something.
