Now that we've had the time to evaluate the latest Zelda game, it's clear for anyone to see: the series is going fast downhill. How might it be redeemed?

Sailing with Hourglass' Linebeck was constant joyous freedom, a treat so effervescent that even the game's third-act fetch-quest couldn't stop the fun. But riding the titular Spirit Tracks brought everyone's least favorite filler genre - wahey, it's a rail-shooter! - to Zelda.

First: How is the series going downhill
Second: How high where the expectations of a Zelda DS?
Third: Let's hold judgment until zelda wii comes out? Just a crazy thought.

Hold judgement? Preposterous! We must always blow our steam at full blast and make sure that every annoying whistling sound we make can be heard for miles.

I don't see what info the article is using to back up spirit tracks being bad, especially since he liked phantom hourglass. Last I checked, most people considered spirit tracks an improvement over phantom hourglass.

I guess he just didn't like that you were stuck to tracks when you were outside of towns and dungeons, which by no means says that the sereis is "going downhill".

I'm sure when the new Zelda comes out he'll look back on Spirit Tracks with fond memories.

I like spirit tracks it was definitely better than phantom hourglass. And I thought the train got annoying but added a twist to the game.

I find it hilarious how Spirit Tracks is apparently the 'decline and fall' of one of the great video game franchises in the history of the industry, yet the authour enjoyed Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker which were both just as monotonous in their frustratingly long and boring 'vehicle' sections. Especially given the fact the two oh so loathed DS titles have also offered the most 'innovation' in dungeon design we've seen in the series since Majora's Mask, whilst everyone and their mother complains that the series does nothing new.

The series in decline? Hardly. Just the quality of the DS Zelda games.

But even for the Ds it's pretty good. For DS it had pretty good graphics and I liked the cut scenes.
