Examiner.com wonders whether or not the Playstation Move may price itself out of mass acceptance. With a starter pack price of "under $100" plus the need to buy additional controllers will consumers pick it up after they've already spent $300 on a PS3?

When Sony introduced its new PS3 motion controls, dubbed Move, last night at the Games Developer Conference they showed technology that was impressive yet familiar at times. However, while watching the string of on-stage demos and talk of the technology, my mind came slipping back to a single slide that said, “Under $100.” When ever someone is trying to sell you something and says it is “under $100” that means the price is likely $99.99.

hmm, so the second controller does not come with the deal... That might be a little bit of a problem. This technology is not cheap but, during these times, Sony can expect too much from such a price. If the game is a full game and not just a demo 'type' game, the bundle is pretty solid. Game - $60 PSEye - $30... That is already $90, so the bundle might be worth it.

So let me get this straight to do all that cool boxing and archery we need two Move controllers with the orb on the end? So that means to play multiplayer in those games I will need 4 of them. Thats gonna be a bit pricey.. They should have just put an orb on the top of the Sub-controller as well.

Now that is the truth. Hopefully Sony realizes this before launch, and saves me having to get four controllers just to play archery with my friend...

Gladiator also requires two glowballs, as well as that street fighting game.

So essentially, if you want to play any of the games with two people, you NEED four controllers.

This is making of think whether getting a PS3 is worth It. The original Eyetoy was amazingly fun I really enjoyed It. But i can't find anywhere in the article saying that everyone in the family will enjoy this.

Don't buy the controller if you don't like it. Don't judge the whole console on one accessory.

I'm not. I still play my old PS2 nearly ever day. Its just that i don't have a PS3 so I'm thinking of buying one as most people have Modern Warfare on PS3.

It just sounded like you were questioning the entire PS3 over one accessory.

The bundle is under a hundred, I'm sure a single controller will be 50 bucks as usual.

I mean think about it guys, game controllers are 50 *bleep*ing dollars already, that's outrageous, but since it's the established norm we've come to accept it.

I agree that it is the norm, but this is the first time we've essentially been asked to buy two controllers for single player gaming. It is different buying a second controller to play against a friend, but a second controller for $50 is a lot of money when the controller is needed to mimic a shield or an arrow in a game.

I wonder if there will be a cheaper box with just the two controllers for those of us who already have an PS Eye? Buying the main and sub controllers separately won't be cheap >_>

Good thing I'm not at all very interested in this tech.

why does some articles make it sound like the Move itself is $100? its a starter pack.... thats a cheap a$$ price considering it will come with a game and the camera with the controller. and honestly... idc if i need to buy 2... if i need 2 will buy 2. if i ever want to play with another person with the Move,... then, over time, i will get the next 2.

Over time?! Wait, you mean you can save money instead of buying it all in one go? Unheard of!

The article clearly states that $100 is for the starter pack and that individual controllers are likely to cost $40-$50.

      Reading is fundamental.

Sony clearly said at the conference that the Starter Pack is under $100 they even had it in big letters on the screen. The Starter Pack will likely be about $80 with individual controllers at $30 to make them accessible to everyone.

Under $100 usually means $99.99. I honestly wouldn't expect the bundle to be less than $89.99 since it includes an EyeToy ($40), a move controller, and a game.

The controllers are more advanced than what the Wii is offering so I wouldn't expect them to sell for less than an individual Wii-mote ($40) either. $40-$50 for an individual Move controller and $20-$30 for an individual Move sub-controller is a pretty safe bet IMHO.
