The PokéWalker, a pedometer used to help level up your Pokémon while walking, is one of the biggest features in the latest Nintendo DS game. However after some sleuthing, we've discovered that gamers would have to walk for about 1000 miles to get the most out of the PokéWalker.

I've walked a bunch already. Unlocked Dim Cave just now.

I'd just stick it in my pocket when I walk to uni. That would probably get me 10kms, 3 days a week.

1000 miles? That's a whole lot of steps...

Take it on the walk to Uni and then the gym at the Uni, should work out well. It's a very clever accessory they've included to be sure.

Couldn't you just shake the device to achieve the same effect without spending a great deal of time walking?

I remember I used to do that with my portable "Pokémon Pikachu". All the kids who had one would bring them to school each day and shake them while they were doing work in class. The noise drove the teachers mad. XD

      ...then they got banned.

I think the pedometer devices are a bit more advanced now, so that shaking it is harder to trick the device. Doesn't mean you can't do it, just that you have to a better job of simulating the motion of someone walking.

    First Wii Fit, now this.

I think Nintendo is trying to train an army for something...

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking.

I wanted to see if someone would put the two together.
