Ever gotten bad looks for sporting a gamer shirt to work? Ever been politely shunned from a public conversation? If so then Resumeplay.net might just have the answers you are looking for...
It’s no secret that gamers get some bad press: our reputation as a community isn’t as good as it should be. It’s not just the extremists either; we seem to have a bad rep with the general public. Gamers aren’t violent or bad people, despite what some critics might claim, so why do we have a negative reputation? These are the top five reasons why I think people dislike gamers, and what we as gamers can do about it.

I think this article is based in America because in New Zealand and Australia the only gamers that get shunned are the WoW players which is fair enough because there so busy doing 40 man raids that when do you actually see them, there most probably getting something to eat or going to class.
Sports gamers if anything get the most respect for the general public.
As for your point about that not being an example of why people hate gamers, it's a PERFECT example. The prison population in America consists of more black people than any other ethnicity (last I checked, anyway, but if not then consider it five years ago and shut the hell up). Does this mean black people are more troublesome than any other ethnicity? Does this mean they're all bad people? No. Is it a valid reason to hate black people as a whole? Of *bleep*ing course not.
Do people still use it as a reason? You bet your ass they do.
You do know that the entire world hates students more than most other people, right? Most students being gamers isn't an argument for it being more acceptable
We are hated, mostly by the upper crust patsy bastards who are in charge of things because we apparently 'breed violence'.
Once that's done we'll have a world full of insane children to hunt, and after they're gone I guess I'll just have to repopulate the place... with your mom.
