While we all love playing new games, there are some that just have us all 'sucked in' for hours, days or even months. The ones we keep coming back to, or simply play at the exclusion of others some times.

OXCGN takes a look at the top 8 games its team sink hours upon hours into, and why.

Every gamer has a game that swallows up time, keeps them fixated and amazed and is destined to be a personal nostagia trip for years to come. It may be the incredible world that you are immersed in, the gameplay that keeps you amused, or even the multiplayer action you experience.

This generation of consoles have provided a wealth of different games but not all of them have been big long-term attention grabbers.

    Mass Effect 2 surprises me tbh, primarily because it's pretty new. I can definitely understand why Halo 3 and Oblivion would be on there though. For me personally I've played MW2 & Gears 2 the most, only due to online multiplayer, but Fallout 3 definitely is my most played offline-only game. I'm not even sure how many hours I have on it and I have still only hacked about 40'ish terminals!

    My most game played this gen is Fallout 3 (god, 170+ hours or so, christ that's a long time). Oblivion is the next closest with about 80 (so there is a lot of difference there).

    Halo 3 doesn't class cause I can't check (I have played it a lot online though, but only when my brother comes over to my house)

    I think my all-time game I've spent the most time on was Pokemon Silver lol. I played that for most of my childhood

    Off the top of my head:

    Halo 3 - Waaaaay too long when i first got my 360
    Fallout 3 - 30 hours or so
    Mass Effect 2 - 'bout 25 hours
    GTA4 - about 20 hours?
    MW2 - About 20 as well.

    For me, its probably GTA4, Fallout 3, Dragon Age.

    GTA4- About 130-140 hrs over a period of an year- it was the best game I had for quite a while.
    Fallout 3- 120 hours, atleast.
    Dragon Age- Around 100 hrs.

    There are a few 360 games I’ve probably spent 50-60 hours with but none really stand out as one. I’ve definitely sunk more time into than any other. What does come to mind though is Two Worlds.

    Normally I only play games for 2-3 hours at a time max. For some reason when I started on Two Worlds I played it for 8 hours straight – something I haven’t done since! It’s a severely under-rated game that was judged too harshly by critics and gamers due to its frame-rate problems.
    Holy shit, someone who actually agrees with me on this?
