Heavy Rain is a great game, but sets a worrying trend for future games. Should we embrace the change, or should it be heralded as as one time masterpiece?

Heavy Rain was quite the masterpiece: a well told story, tightly scripted around player actions and presented like a Hollywood movie. Most reviews are giving it high praise, and talk among the gamer community seems to cite it as one of the top reasons to own a PS3. It certainly is impressive--visually creative, with great sound and voice work, yet telling a decidedly adult tale that stands well alongside movie luminaries such as Seven or Manhunter. David Cage really delivered what he promised with his interactive storytelling, superseding his previous games Omicron and Indigo Prophecy.

We should embrace the change. I mean the amount of time games like Heavy Rain take to make will deter most of the developers but we need something to break up the FPS saturation.

Or, you know, it could just be done in moderation. It isn't all or nothing. :\

Bite your tongue, Hideo! Don't you know people are extreme and don't know what moderation means?! It's all or nothing, all the time, my friend! Get with the program!!

(Note: I agree. If not done in moderation, then it'll become boring itself and we'll be begging for the FPS saturation once again.)
