GameZone's Jason Young explores the age demographics of Pokemon and discusses "How Old is Too Old." Does Nintendo's popular franchise have an age limit on how enjoyable it could potentially be?

Perhaps this post isn’t anything more than me venting out my frustrations with people who refuse to understand why I would choose to play Pokemon over something like Call of Duty or World of Warcraft. Or to those who think they’ve outgrown the franchise that they used to love just because they got older.

Had a friend who, back in jr high when Pokemon first hit NA got so into it that he dressed up as Ash for the first day of school. That might have been a bit much for a teenager I think.

I know, everyone bags on everything on the internet. I think that you can play whatever you want, or should be able to, at least - I mean, it's YOUR money and YOUR game system and YOUR game, so seriously, people should lay off.

Recently they've been trying to stir up the series a little bit, because let's face it: the series, up until recently, had been churning out the same cookie-cutter experience month after month. Almost to the point that they're barely different games one iteration to the next.

Play the games till you're 100 for all I care.

I hate it when people think that just because you grow up means you should quit playing/watching things aimed at kids.

Look at the Donkey Kong Country animated series.I have a DVD of it and the show is clearly aimed at very young children yet I love the show and I'm 26.

There is nothing wrong with having an inner child, in fact it makes like that much more fun.

I doubt many people nearing 100 could play video games, since most of them probably will have arthritis

But having an inner child does make things alot more enjoyable, unless you're talking about the pokemon anime......The way that is now, you'd have to be a child to fully enjoy it

The anime was so much better before Dawn joined the group.

I stopped watching Pokemon something like 8 years ago after I got sick of the same crap every episode. Then I started watching the Digimon show and imo that show is 100 times better than Pokemon.

I think the reason I stopped watching Pokemon was because I started to realize Ash wasn't as eager about wanting to be a Pokemon Master as I wanted him to be. By the end of season 2 he had, what, barely 20 Pokemon? I WANTED TO LIVE MY DREAMS OF BEING A POKEMON MASTER THROUGH YOU, ASH, AND YOU JUST DIDN'T WANNA LET IT HAPPEN, DID YOU!

Imagine how much more epic the Pokemon series would have been if Gary was the main character. Now he was a kid who knew how to get shit done.

it would be boring because Gary would be to good and wouldn't act like a retarded idiot.

OH BOY SOMEONE WITH LARGE PINK HAIR NAMED JESSALINA AND A MAN WITH PURPLE HAIR BUT WITH GLASSES AND LOOK A TALKING MEOWTH I SURE HOPE THATS NOT TEAM ROCKET IN DISGUISE!

what the *bleep*? The only good shit is now Jessy doesn't suck as much (during competitions) other than that just watch season 1 and you've watched them all.

I'd say that, it's possible to argue that Pokemon has some fairly adult themes, if taken beyond the childish way they're potrayed.

Take for example, Platinum - Team Galactic play god, control time and space etc. Or Emerald - Global Warming.

Despite that however, Pokemon's great. Best JRPG ever made.
