David Wong of Cracked takes us through why gaming is dumbest and most immature medium out there, and why it's your fault. Highlights include NeoGaf members complaining about low resolution in Alan Wake and an aggravated (former) WoW player attempting to shove a remote control up his ass.

Let's get this out of the way right now: The only reason I don't have more game consoles hooked to my TV is because I'm out of ports on the back for cables to plug into, and I don't want to have to get off the sofa to switch over. I've been playing video games since the Carter administration. So do not compare me to Roger "I never play video games yet dismiss them as worthless" Ebert here. Just... don't. I would have taken my SNES as my date to senior prom if they had let me.

But the thing is, I grew up. Gaming didn't.

It's the dumbest and most immature medium out there?

You obviously haven't been to the cinema lately, or listened to music, or read any books, have you?

All popular strands of every medium these days are *bleep*ing stupid.

There is more stupid content yes. But there is also more intelligent, creative and inspired content as well. You just need to look through the greater amounts of content that get produced nowadays. Anyone who bitches about stupid films, books or music should spend that time instead finding and experiencing the quality that is out there.

And anyone who wastes their time writing an article about games being stupid should do the same, which was kind of my point

'Gaming is the dumbest and immature medium around?'

Either this guy hasn't played any major games of the last few years, or is just un-observant. BioShock? Grand Theft Auto IV? Mass Effect 2? All incredibly intelligent, adult games with amazing stories and depth.

Gaming has evolved, you're just unobservant.

GTA4 doesn't have amazing depth, it just has slightly more than the previous ones XD

I was trying to get at how it has an adult story, don't really get why I said amazing depth.

        Alternatively, listen to my points.

I did read the article, and it wasn't really that well thought out. Pretty much all your points apply to movies and music as well (bar maybe the 'douchebag' thing. Why is Avatar the best selling movie ever? 3D. Why do Megan Fox movies rake in so much? People think she's hot and want to see more of her. All of your problems do have some ground, it's just that they stand for most mediums, and in the long term, aren't really that big problems.

Also, for the story thing, I've said before: since pretty much every story has been told or has the same grounding (Joseph Campbell's 'Hero With A Thousand Faces'), it's less what you do and more how you do it.

Everyone likes new technology you moron. I agree with the stories being at a B level. Sex appeal? Are you dumb? Megan Fox in Transformers is a perfect example that every entertainment industry uses sex appeal.

Virgins? Who do you hang out with. Every male at my Division I college from football to tennis players play video games. You are just a nerdy virgin that hangs out with other nerdy virgins.

This article was, in internet lingo, an EPIC FAIL!
