GameZone's Jason Young digs deep into the pricing for today's video games and provides quotes from publishers, such as Namco Bandai, on justifying the price in retail.

Now, I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that $60 is a bit pricey for most games. However, therein lies the discrepancy; ‘most games’.

Good article, but it's certainly not an easy problem to solve.

I like what Atlus has been doing with this recently. Like how Trauma Team and 3D Dot Game Heroes. Both priced at around $40 rather than the standard prices as something of an admission that they're niche.

I was good around 49.99 during the playstation 2 era and i would like that to return instead of 59.99.

What the hell ? Brand new recently released games over here are $90-120
If i was paying $60 I'd be so damn happy, thats almost two games for the price i pay for one.

I think they should be $60 for the first 3-6 months, then drop to $50. Then after a year drop to $30 and stay there. Used copys can be easily bought for $20.

But as already stated, its easier said than done. Its a tough market out there.

I want more digital distribution titles since it takes away the printing costs.

I'd soak my carpet at the opportunity to pay 60USD for games. Much better than the 90-100USD that Australian prices work out to at the moment. 60USD works out to a measly 70AUD. Are we required to pay a $40-50 Not American Fee?

Your grass is much, much greener.
