Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) site claims the game will soon turn to a free to play (no monthly subscription) model. While this sounds great on paper, the amount of hidden costs just to enjoy the game are absurd.

    they really are. i've spent more than 100$ on a certain 'free' game, and at least 50$ on another

    It's interesting really, because I would probably prefer a subscription to micro transactions. The latter is just so much hassle, deciding if each feature or bonus is worth the cash, rather than just thinking over one payment.

    I guess that's what he's getting at though, it confuses the people about how much they've really spent.
