GameZone's Jeremy Zoss discusses whether Activision is truly the enemy of gaming fans or if they are just conducting business, as would any other mega-corporation.

They’re not out to get you. They’re out to get your money. But that’s the same thing that every other publisher wants. It’s the same thing every other company in the world wants.

All companies want your money. The difference? Most others earn and respect it. Activision, in turn, want as much as they can get for as little as they can do. They are the enemy.

The difference between Activision and most other developers is that they develop games for the pure intent of milking you of every dollar they can legally get away with, even if that so happens to be charging you for things you shouldn't be charged for.

Whereas other developers make games with the intent of providing a compelling, entertaining experience.

Activision is in fact the enemy.

This title is rather amusing. What does this person secretly work for ActiVision? xD But as the other mentioned, ActiVision's way of going about their business is clearly worse than the other gaming companies. They overcharge DLC beyond belief, aligned themselves with the top MMO and RTS dog, Blizzard, and attempt to get most of their watered down products to sell to the ignorant consumers quite a bit. Worst gaming company to date.

Just the simple fact that this article exists is proof enough that Activision is the enemy to gamers. But to be fair, if Bobby Kotick got kicked out, fired, 'retired.' Activision would probably be a better company. Bobby Kotick is just a douchebag!

I'd have to agree with most of the people here, while all companies are out there to make money, Activision goes well beyond what most other videogames developers will do to make a cheap buck. I won't say they're evil, but the directors lately have really been coming off as pricks.

I'm just curious, what caused the shift from directed hate towards EA and now to Activision? Admittedly, the above examples are good enough for me. 10.99 for a couple of maps really is a rip off...

What did EA do to redeem themselves?

Dead Space. As always, gamers are morons. EA still suck donkey balls, people just don't see it anymore. As always, morons.

EA has been getting a free pass lately because they stopped acquiring smaller game developers solely for IP ownership purposes.

The problem with Activision under Kotick's leadership is that he doesn't give a shit about the customer. All he cares about are generic franchise games that he can crank out year after year with minimal changes and charge you extra money for peripheral controllers. It's the Madden/Guitar Hero business model.

No when EA got to work publishing titles such as Mirrors Edge, Dead Space, SPORE, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Left 4 Dead, and Crysis gamers started forgiving them.
I'm not one of those people who's gonna boycott a game company but Activision best really hope the PR team has been working on something special.

And when EA start their plans to force people to buy new or face an incomplete game, gamers will realize their mistake.

You also have to remember, publishing a game doesn't mean you make the game. The developer makes the game, the publisher puts it on mass-production and distributes it, like how an author writes a book and the publisher prints it.

EA doesn't do anything beneficial in the development process, really. They just push deadlines on the developers, really.
