Gamers. Nerds. Geeks. Whatever title you choose to go by there is one social cliche that falls on us all. We're apparently lousy at relationships. I know! I don't know where it came from, but it's there and to some extent it's earned. New England Gamer examines some of the mistakes gamers make when they become part of a twosome and offers some advice on how to make gaming and relationship like peas in a pod.
A lot of gamers in this position, both male and female, will naturally want to integrate their favorite past time into their budding relationships but many of us make mistakes born of inexperience, ignorance, and outright selfishness. Read on to find out how to avoid turning video games into a problem and moreover, how to make them a part of your love life.

The main problem with gaming (and is the evidence in this article) is that people put games before their second half, which is wrong, however this could be said about other such things like blowing off an arranged dinner plan to go play or watch Footie with your friends etc.
Not to mention people also mistake "toning down your gaming" for "quitting gaming and changing altogether"
Put yourself in your partner's shoes. You have someone you love and want to be around and spend time with, only to be blown off because they want to complete a game before their friend or finally get that achievement that has been haunting them for the last week. They feel neglected and what's more, they can't do anything but watch (which no matter how much you love games, not one person can deny that watching someone else play games can get boring, especially when you can't interact)
I also heavily suggest any couples to go out there and play MMOs and shooters as a couple. Some of the greatest fights and rivalries I have had have been with couples that work and fight together. So in that respect, not only does it bring you closer, spend time with one another and have fun, it also gives those who you spend online with fun...if that's not a win/win situation then I have no idea what else is
