The announcement of a new Devil May Cry game has everyone in a commotion. Is it the gameplay, the setting, the timeline? No, it's Dante's new redesigned emo look. GameZone takes a look at who might have inspired this redesign.

So, yesterday, as part of its Tokyo Game Show presentation, Capcom finally revealed its long-rumored reboot of the Devil May Cry series, at the hands of Ninja Theory, the developer behind Heavenly Sword and the upcoming Enslaved. While it looks like most of its combat is intact (complete with sword slinging, demonic arms and gunplay), we can’t help but notice that something’s different. Dante…isn’t quite himself anymore. He’s gone from a leather-clad, white-haired demon knight to…this.

I think he looks pretty damn bad ass he kinda reminds me of Gackt in his Malice Mizer days either that or Miyavi. Sure they have made him more western friendly, but he still carries very Japanese traits.

I dont get this whole wester thing. He hardly looks more western, hell he looks even more typical eastern style.

He looks cool as a seperate character but it's just not Dante. They should have just called him something else, would have been way better.

I agree, I wouldn't be as skeptical of this game if it wasnt a DMC game at all and was its own original IP.

For an article that bashes emo a lot, it's really really whiney.

I dunno, I think he looks fine. I don't really get why they redesigned him though. Whatever though, their character, they can do what they wish.

At this point, I think his voice actor and script will be the make-or-break points. As long as he isn't an asshole, I'll be totally fine with him.

Nice to see people know what matters when it comes to the game. *bleep* thinking about gameplay, lets just get pissy because Dante looks different

Well to be fair this does go beyond looks. If Dante acts like an emo teenager then it makes it hard for the player to like him, which is likely to screw over any interest in the story as well.

But yeah, I'm sure there are some people who just want the same old Dante.

But in the trailer he's still a cocky ass-kicker (except in those torture scenes anyway) so it doesn't go beyond looks, unless I'm the only one who's been paying attention.

Well I haven't seen the trailer yet, been having trouble with the Internet. But if he still acts the same, then yeah, no big problem.

    quote
Hello all foreign fans. Recently I got lots of comments like 'Dante has changed,' and someone said I was not too fond of newest Dante. But it's not true.'Dante has changed'...that's right. But from my point of view Dante has changed every time the sequel came out, and he was always different from whom I created first. So why don't you wait and see how their new trial will be same as usual...?
From Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Devil May Cry and Dante. He also apologized for his poor english.

Yeah he's right, we probably should wait for the game to come out.

Even though I am not fan I still think it's a dumb move to change his appearance.
