Sports games can be daunting, but there a select few titles out there that appeal to both the casual and hardcore markets. Mutant League Football definitely fit the bill, but it is long overdue for a remake for a new generation of gamers.

From the players, to the fields, the 'nasty' audibles, and the various traps laid throughout this game is such a unique take on the football genre that it's hard to believe Electronic Arts developed it. It harks back to a day when EA was willing to experiment and didn't take themselves so seriously.

    The 8-bit age, truly a time of endless possibilities given how many layers of new ground were being broken.

    Seeing something like this in 1080p HD would be epic.
