It was revealed a while ago that people were expecting some sort of tilt control in regards to Mario Kart 3DS. Well Miyamoto have analysed that this seems like an unlikelihood due to the 3DS only being 3D from certain angles. Tilting the screen could end up showing a blurred image rather than a 3D one. However, all hope is not lost. One could assume if this were to appear on the new Mario Kart game, then it would be with the 3D turned off.

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has commented on the issue in the latest issue of Nintendo Dream. As reported at Game Memo, Miyamoto told the monthly magazine that it would be difficult to combine 3D output with tilt-based controls in a race game, as tilting the system makes the 3D effect disappear.

That would be fair enough you choose one or the other for that game. I would personally choose 3D over tilt just because racing would be more accurate using the analogue stick.

I wouldn't like tilting in my handheld anyway. I feel it'd be more difficult than the familiar precision of button-mashing.
