We've all dabbled in the seedy world of emulated videogames and ROMs, but the VirtualNES site has found a way for gamers to play such NES titles as Contra and Super Mario Bros. that is both free and legal.

VirtualNES (vNES for short) cooked up something for nostalgic gamers longing for the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System with their Open Emulation Project. Through the hard work of coder Jamie Sanders, VirtualNES is different from other emulation sites in that all of the games are legal. How did he accomplish this? All of the games on the site belong to him in cartridge form, allowing him to do whatever he wants with them. While creating an emulator in Flash for free seems like he is breaking a million and one lawsuits, the way he is doing things is 100% legal.
