Which is better, real living pets or digital pets that do not pee on your carpets. Sure having a digital pet requires no effort, but where is the love and affection that comes with a real pet?

Do you remember Tamagotchi? First sold in Japan by Bandai in 1996, the tiny handheld device allowed kids to hatch their very own digital pets and raise them. With the press of a button, you could feed your pet, play with it, clean up its "accidents" and give it medicine when it got sick. Failure to respond to your little egg-shaped overlord's needs usually resulted in its death, leading many schools to ban the device when children became more preoccupied with it than with their work.

Simple: Real pets = awesome. Virtual pets = child's game. You cant even pet the virtual "PET."

Be surprised how popular robotic animals are in Japan, haha. But I've thoroughly enjoyed the time I've spent with my two dogs, and I wouldn't trade that for any sort of virtual animal. I can see the educational value in games like Nintendogs, but they get old fast. Whereas a real pet is a friend for life.

If I am being honest, one of the worst and most childish things to do is have a virtual pet. Whereas real pets are a pleasure to have, the only bad thing is when they die.
