Game Podunker MonkJammas presents the case of video games being presented and appreciated as art. Though this debate has been going on for a while with much debate on both spectrum, the author writes his points of why games can be considered as such.

Can video games ever be truly classified as art? This is an on-going debate that often raises heated opinions. Usually the arguments exist on opposite poles, either condemning games as nothing more than entertainment that will never be considered art ( in the case of Roger Ebert*), or screaming from the rooftops that games are the greatest art form of the modern era. The most sensible of folk sit on the fence, declaring that of course games are art, for art is a subjective item that can never be truly defined and so it does not need discussing. While I tend to take that stance, it makes for a boring debate. I believe games are art, both subjectively and, dare I say it, objectively. In the following passages I will outline exactly why I believe this, as well as highlighting ways in which games could cement their claims as art even further.
