All The Wrong Reasons to Level up

Game Podunk blogger, Natetothemax writes how gamers may be leveling up for the wrong reasons. Instead of the enjoying the game, could we be obsessed with some unknown motivation to complete challenges? Read on for more.

Maybe that’s just an opinion, but I can almost guarantee that Modern Warfare 2 wouldn’t be as popular if it didn’t give people the opportunity to rank up and complete challenges to advance their character. Everyone is always talking about unlocking Fall camo for their Intervention, or about finally completing the last SCAR challenge. And what did these people get? Satisfaction. That word represents the one positive thing about ranking up in games.

    I've been saying they should take stat tracking and all that crap out of shooters because then people would be playing the game for FUN not to boost k/d or complete challenges. It seems like everybody camps now because they are afraid of dying and lowering their k/d. If it didn't even track k/d they wouldn't camp.

      I disagree. I think people would still camp for the simple fact that they don't want to lose a match because their precious online egos couldn't handle it.
