Game Podunk blogger, Natetodamax writes why gamers wanting to accomplish achievements are considered to be achievement whores. Read on to see how he presents this case.

I am somewhat of an achievement whore. Or I was. Or maybe I still am. I’m not so sure. Either way, when Microsoft introduced the world to the Xbox 360 in 2005, they unknowingly (or knowingly?) introduced a new addiction to the gaming population. That addiction is the stupidly simple concept of achievements. By playing games, people can get rewarded for doing certain things such as beating a level on hard or getting X number of kills with a particular weapon. The reward itself is nothing but a set number of points that adds to the ever growing pile of useless Achievements Could Be More points known as a Gamerscore. The question here is why this system leads many people to be labeled as achievement whores. What makes a gamer struggle through hard sections of games or grind for several hours just to get the achievement they’ve always wanted?
