Black Ops will always be 2nd best to COD4's story
problem BO though it worked well story wise, theres TOO much action going on

i dont recall much time in BO where your not in an intense firefight
COD4 at least had some pacing, some of the stealthy moments were a welcome change
a good narrative is parallel to good gameplay

The Black Ops campaign wasn't just NOT the best, it was the WORST. The AI was some of the worst ever programmed. It wasn't unusual to see guys I was with literally standing next to enemy soldiers taking absolutely no fire from them and not helping at all. It was also the shortest by far, clocking in at 4 to 5 hours. 4-5 hours isn't a game worth $60. Sure there is online but devs has to realize that not everybody wants to play that. There needs to be online subscriptions or ways to buy campaign only discs for cheaper.

It's called renting the game. Why buy the game if all you are going to play is the campaign of any game?

Because there are plenty of games out there that offer more than enough single player content to justify buying them? In the case of multiplayer-based games it certainly isn't too much to ask of developers to actually put some effort in and create a fleshed out campaign that stands on its own merits, as opposed to just throwing together a lackluster excuse of a singleplayer component.

At the very least a six to eight hour campaign is something but for anything below six without any replay value is nothing short of pathetic for a game that's got a >£30 price tag, online or not. And any game where the appeal almost exclusively lies in the multiplayer should never be priced over £30/$40.

That being said Black Ops campaign certainly wasn't horrible, but it sure as hell wasn't good either and doesn't stand up to the offline in either Modern Warfare.

Well yeah I see your point. But still there are very few FPSs out there that are worth the full $60 if you just buy it for the campaign. The only game I think is worth it just for the campaign are the Half Life games. Of course they probably could have done what Halo did and add some achievements and challenges in the campaign for replay value, but that's only if you value such things enough to backtrack for it even though you are just repeating the same campaign again. But even with all that, and a 20 hour campaign, that still isn't worth $60 to me if I'm just going to play the campaign. I can be done with that within a week.

To me though it's worth it. Even though I only actually paid $45 for this game. I say if I play it for hours almost every night for months, then I got my moneys worth.

If I only rented games that I only played SP then I would barely own any ganes at all.

Because we're gamers? That's like saying why do you go to mcdonalds if all you like is the big mac.
