In September 2009 we did a preliminary comparison on arguably the 2 biggest racing games of this generation. Now, with Sony's Gran Turismo 5 finally released, we revisit the battle between Forza 3 and GT5 to see how they stack up against each other in our definitive comparison.

As much as I didn't want to accept it before GT5's release, I have to say this is a fairly accurate conclusion. While GT5 has more cars and better graphics/physics, Forza 3 has more in terms of everything else.

It goes to show that PD's work ethic of taking obscenely long times to make their games doesn't always work. For a company that delayed their game countless times to "make it perfect," it sure didn't turn out that way. I have to wonder what they were doing for those 5 years, considering what we got.

Most of that times, I'd wager, was likely spent on just modeling the damn cars.

Through reading that it seemed the writer was trying really hard, struggling even to actually find areas where Gran Turismo 5 actually won. I mean yes you can give Gran Turismo 5 the win on number of cars, if you ignore the fact that 800 of them are lower res upscales with no interior and little to no damage. Though if you compare premium to premium then Forza 3 even wins in the number of cars stakes with 500+ cars with interiors and damage to 200 in Gran Turismo 5.

I agree with Red 9 that I want to know what the *bleep* Polyphony were doing in the 5-6 years years the game took to make. Since as that article shows in text and screenshots is Forza 3 despite being a year older has better looking tracks, better customization, better community and technically more cars, all the while having comparatively the same level of visuals.. Turn 10 made Forza 3 in less than 18 months and have made 3 games in the Forza series in 6 years the fourth game in the series coming this year...

Gran Turismo 5 is the fall of this series a downfall I don't think many fans were anticipating and one that some fans are still admirably denying. It is sad, but it does seem to me that if you want the best driving simulator you need an Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza 3.
