A look at how the Rock Band and Guitar Hero franchises need to change in order to keep up with the market and make their games worthy of purchase in the future
With more sequels to both the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchise that we can shake a rusty spoon at, its time to take a long, hard look at these games and see where they are lacking. Both franchises are prone to releasing sequels which don’t introduce enough new features in them, but Guitar Hero in particular seems to churn out new games more often than most. RB3 introduced enough features to spark interest in the genre again. What did GH6 bring? A man-bear-pig. If anything, the article should dissect what needs to change with GH because HMX has been the one innovating while Activision is just riding off the name HMX invented; no innovation whatsoever.
