Some gamers remember the day that SEGA died, and for them, it was perhaps the saddest day ever in gaming.

OXCGN writer uncovers some interesting facts at the US Patten Office that could well shed some light on a possible return for the gaming giant?

Come check it out and see what you think.

September 9th, 1999. 9/9/99. Most commonly known as the launch date of the Dreamcast in North America, it marked yet another point where history was happening in front of peoples’ faces, and they failed to see it.

Now, think about this in context: it’s September of 1999. You buy a new console, and it has the ability to connect to the internet to play games! Playing on the internet, on a CONSOLE?! Preposterous!

Not only that, but the actual technology was ahead of its time, and games were beautiful!

It sounds like a formula for success… but it ultimately wasn’t. The Dreamcast was a failure and caused Sega as a console competitor to step down, forever changing the industry.

I just read that article. The entire thing is absurd and the only thing close facts are the vague drawings of a very archaic looking controller. Literally, the rest of the article is 100% speculation based on the writers own desires.

And that's all this article is. It's poorly written, and it doesn't do a lot but get carried away with the writer's geekiest desires.

"Maybe SEGA could have Steam!" OK.....Where did THAT come from? There's really no foundation, it's less than speculation.

Apple are (pr have been) entering the console-based fray for some time now, so 'perhaps' SEGA could see an opening.

I know from my dealings with SEGA here in Australia, 'something' is cooking within SEGA, and no one is saying much right now.

SO whatever it is???, there is something afoot within SEGA globally.

With the quality of SEGA games these days, I think making a new console would be a stupid idea.

Their games may have ben awesome back in the day but their glory days are far behind them imo.

Very true, but other companies have done weirder things in their life spans lol, =who knows what one might do if they see 'a flicker' of possibility in todays market.

Who's to say it's not going to be in the 'portable' area, as that's wide open atm as well.

We have Panasonic already producing hardware for that which will go on sale soon . . . .

I think the advantage Sega has is that no one thinks that they can or will do it.

They're the underdog and to be quite frank, that's nothing but encouragement.

Finally Sega is harvesting the UFO crash site that occurred almost 10 years ago! Technology so far ahead of Terran consoles that you won't believe! Sega will overtake not only Microsoft and Apple, but oil companies! 99.99% of the Earth's GPD will be exclusively Sega products!

Shenmue 3 with Avatar level visuals. Universe Harrier, the REAL Sonic 4!

      It's wide-eyed fantasy, that's what it is.
