Game Podunk blogger, Matthew Root writes a reaction piece to the recent contemplation of the release of Grand Theft Auto V coming out in 2011. Read on for more....
On February 9, Gamasutra ran an article concerning the possible release date of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) which contained quotes from industry analysts including Michael Pachter. The article in question was very tempered in its assertions and had a restrained title that read “Analysts: With Max Payne On 'Back Burner', Will Rockstar Reveal GTA V In Fiscal 2012?” However, by the end of the day the story had been picked up by several other gaming media outlets, some small and some quite large, and the online game of telephone had morphed the story into a declaration of the game’s impending 2011 release. Unfortunately, this has created hopes in gamers that will go unrealized because GTA V will not be coming in 2011; here’s why.

Only things that bother me are, I don't think releasing GTA V in fall would have that much effect on L.A. Noire.
Then it says that a November release would have GTA V going up against some heavyweight competition. GTA is about as heavyweight as it gets. Other games are afraid to go up against GTA, not the other way around.
Even after that though, GTA IV was a fantastic game, just some really bad decisions were made, most of which were highly experimental in the first place.
