Carl B. of iNintendo.net writes about why he feels the Nintendo DS is the best video game system currently available. In his analysis, he looks at the library of the DS in comparison to other great systems, including the Super NES, PS2, and PC.

"As the final months of the Nintendo DS have come and gone, I've found myself reminiscing on all the great times I have had with the system over the course of its lifespan. Upon the release of the DS on November 21, 2004, my most played game wasn't Super Mario 64 DS - the remake of the N64 classic - but the demo of Metroid Prime: Hunters. Not having to use link cables with a group of friends was amazing in 2004, not to mention the great visuals and touch screen the system boasted. The first few months of the DS were rather mundane, with the best titles releasing being WarioWare: Touched and Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. 2005 finally rolled along and saw the release of several great games including Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Nintendogs, and the Wi-Fi enabled Mario Kart DS. This was a precursor of things to come as the handheld's library of great games grew over the years, housing such big name franchises as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Dragon Quest, and Final Fantasy, along with original new IPs like Scribblenauts and 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors. After a near seven years on the market I can say with full confidence that the Nintendo DS is the greatest gaming system of all time. This takes into account the likes of the Super NES, PlayStation 2, and even the PC."

It's not hard to see that the DS is just *bleep*ing amazing. I'm sure 5 years on from now I'll still be buying games for it, because there’s just so many good ones.

GBA was great too, especially with its ability to play GB/GBC games, that's about 15 years worth of gaming history. Honestly, I’ll take my portable consoles over my home ones anyday.

I'm the opposite.I don't buy handheld games very often. When I do, most of the time I never even complete them.

Handheld games for the majority I am rarely interested in long enough to beat.

So for me a handheld will never be better than a console.

Anyway it's no surprise that a nintendo site calls a nintendo gaming device the best.

I don't think a handheld will (or even a console for that matter) ever beat out the SNES or PS2 as my favourite games machines of all time.
