Out-of-body experiences are usually only thought about in relation to spirituality. Researchers with the Brain Mind Institute at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland see it differently. By using a virtual-reality setup with cameras linked to a head-mounted video display they effectively managed to give subjects an out-of-body experience.

    Couldn't there possible be a lot of bad side effects to this? I mean, that's just a hunch but I can see how there could be some really bad side effects to this.

    On the flip side, it would be an awesome gaming experience but couldn't it become extremely addicting as well?

    If this allows me to actually feel fear while playing a shooter then I'm game. I literally hate the disconnect between me and my in-game avatar. I mean where is caution when I know it's not going to hurt or I'm not emotionally attached.. Same for horror games I feel "fear" but not the same kind of fear I would if it was in first person and I literally felt like I was there.
