The main issue with this news, much like the recent scandal with the new Call of Juarez game, is that the countries banning the games could easily circumvent their troubles by being slightly less myopic. These game developers and game players are free to virtually destroy each other as long as they are at least 16 or so, depending on the country they reside in. Why is it that Australia has yet to implement a similar age restriction? It wouldn't be hard to pass as you have the support of the gamers and you can easily counter any typical soccer mom arguments with some simple logic. Answer: They have an R18 rating for other forms of entertainment, but videogames get the short end because they currently serve as the scapegoat for real world problems that are much more complex than being able to just attribute them to violent entertainment.
