Some genres evolve into something bigger rather than disappear. Sports titles in the early 90s, for example, have since emerged as more social gaming events, like Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf for Facebook and Madden Superstars. Roleplaying started with dungeons and explored possibilities never before imagined. With so many changes, we have to wonder what became of the arena shooter.

    Nice article. I actually just finished reviewing Monday Night Combat myself. It's a good game, it just needs more content really. I still play games like UT with my friends, haha.
