RIP PS2. Last ever PS2 game releasing in September

By focusing on Kinect, Microsoft has let their lineup of core exclusives suffer greatly. How does the Xbox 360's lineup compare to the PlayStation 3's? Could this really be the year of the PS3?

Having more/better exclusives means a lot, whether you admit it or not.
It is true that PS3 has stronger exclusives this year (Uncharted, Resistance, Killzone and the like), but 9 out of 10 greats games this year can be bought and played on both/either systems. Saying that 'having the best controllers and doodads for your console but not having games to play it on' is a *bleep*ing ridiculous statement. Exclusives will be dead within the next 5 years and then what are you gonna have? That's right, the bloody hardware and services which you seem to think are unimportant!
You, my good sir, are the one that is one-sided.
note: Before you get up me, I don't plan to buy a single game this year that isn't multiplatform.
Crysis 2, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, Duke Nukem Forever, LA Noire, FEAR 3, Red Faction Armageddon, TES 5, Arkham City, Battlefield 3, Dead Island, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Diablo 3, Final Fantasy 13-2, Hitman 5, Mass Effect 3, Modern Warfare 3
you are totally right Xander. there are no blockbuster multiplatform games coming out this year at all.
/facepalm
also go look up Dead Island videos, specifically the interview where they explain the gameplay. your opinion means nothing since you obviously havent seen any videos about it and just think its some random independent game.
Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 i would hardly call them blockbusters either. they *may* sell a lot of copies but they will suck just like the 2nd game in each series.
In either case it's completely irrelevant because you choose a system based on the exclusives you want. The amount of "blockbuster" multi-platform games is completely useless in determining which system you want. Oh, and KZ3 is a great game and Resistance 3 will likely be a great game as well (and the 2nd in each were also good games overall).
its just the same way every time, PS3 fanboys always jump out saying PS3 has the best games EVARR!! and if you argue with them they do nothing but insult you and say youre stupid. even saying there are tons of multiplatform games which are mostly good if not better than some of the PS3 exclusives.
for example Battlefield 3 is gonna take a collective dump on Killzone and Resistance (not to mention MW3, another multiplat), but PS3 fanboys wouldnt admit to that, not their precious exclusives! look at the Metacritic score for the KZ and Resistance games compared to a multiplat shooter, or even Gears or Halo. one of them is like a 91 at most, the rest are in the 80s. which might be good, but not great.
now excuse me while i go play Dragon Age 2, a multi plat which beats the hell out of any exclusive RPG PS3 has this year, or any year really.
Oh and who in the hell bases a console on freaking accesories beside SR?
I'll take exclusive games over useless controls and shit.
"We have a beast controller and Xbox Live is better we'll always sell consoles, we don't need games."
It is no surprise that the only sales spike Microsoft have had in 2 years came when the Xbox 360 Slim came out. Until that point they had been steadily declining to the point where the Playstation 3 is a mere month of good sales from taking the lead. It is because for the past 3 years Sony has had release schedules full of top quality exclusive content whereas Microsoft hasn't.
The fact is no matter what damn console you own, there will ALWAYS be idiots who refuse to aknowledge that the competeing consoles have their own AAA games.
But no people try to be anti-fanboy and in the end come off as being a fanboy theirself. Like you with your PS3 fanboy comment.
i like PS3 just fine, it has some good exclusives but when fanboys say the exclusives are the BEST GAMES PERIOD, which i see a lot of nowadays, thats when i call bullshit, because lots of things are going multiplat now. and they have more money to work with and polish the game cause they are backed by the richest gaming companies, EA and Activision. this is not 360's year for exclusives, but they have had their years in the past. just get off your high horse in saying that exclusives are the only thing that matters.
Microsoft is focusing too much on Kinect now, that they are forgetting their hardcore fanbase which makes up majority of their consumers. Exclusive games are better for the industry as well to raise competition and quality.
it does suck that MS is putting all their eggs into the Kinect basket this year, but whatev.
Game of the Year:
2007: Bioshock - *exclusive* (at the time)
2008: MGS4 > GTA4 - GTA4 got it solely on number of sales
2009: Uncharted 2 - *exclusive* (deserved it)
2010: Red Dead Redemption -(deserved it)
exclusives have what it takes to win it all... RDR is the only multiplatform game that deserved the award it got...
