The most ironic portion of the entire Mass Effect situation is that there are so many games given the same rating which are, or were, significantly more objectionable, yet the station decided to use this particular game as its flagship. The 2002 release of BMX XXX featured the ability to create topless female bikers and unlock stripper videos. This game’s ultimate goal was to stir controversy and generate sales, but the game ultimately was declined shelf space at various retailers, required censorship and ultimately sold poorly. The media coverage for the debacle was essentially nil, but generated enough complaints for the now defunct Acclaim Entertainment to respond with a statement regarding the clearly identified target audience.
