With the biggest news story still the PSN being down, let's take a look back through time at what has gone down with networks shutting off during peak service times and reflect on how serious and shocking this is (or isn't).

With so much focus on the PSN being down and what we all think we deserve in return, and how furious we all are that we can't play our games in the decently filled release window that the PSN outage fell during, it seems like we were quick to forget something.

We did get a pretty good arcade game for that outage too though.

Also, who would care if they couldn't get online with Mass Effect 3? Or Uncharted 3, really, even though it will have multiplayer, that's not the selling point.

XBL wasn't really down, it was just having a shit ton of problems over 2 weeks, but Microsoft kept giving out updates on the situation.

What's annoying me the most is that Sony aren't even updating people on the situation at all, they just have the attitude of "Hey, theres a problem, we've told you theres a problem, shut up and wait for us to fix it"

Microsoft gave everyone a free arcade game and a months worth of live for free after that, I hope Sony have some way of saying sorry.

You're right, it wasn't fully down, it was only an issue when there was a large amount of players online I believe. I played DoA4 a lot during that timeframe, online and all, heh. Not to mention, even if it were down, we could still play our new games. It wasn't like Sony's DRM style where we need PSN to update our trophy information just to play offline.

I look forward to seeing what Sony will offer us, if anything.

dude sony doesn't have DRM on the games like that you can play games offline and earn trophies all day. I have been playing my new games all the time.
