Dedicated servers are a huge part of the first person shooter genre and online multiplayer gaming in general, so why is it that they are absent from the industry for the most part even on pay services like Xbox Live and the upcoming Call of Duty: Elite?

COD Elite is total junk i agree.

Live though, is more your opinion. when you really think about it, $60 a year is not that much if you have a job. if you dont have a job, you should probably be spending your money on more important things than video games. if you have a job and still dont like paying for Live, then seriously go get a PS3 or play on PC. complaining about it does nothing.

I'm not a fan of the whole "theres no point complaining because nothing will ever be done" line

Theres so many cases that prove that line wrong a couple of recent ones are

AC - People hated the first one, it made you do the samething over and over again. People complained Devs listened and now we have an awesome series of games

DS - They were gonna shut down the servers back in March, there was an internet uproar people complained and now the server are still up.

Believe me if enough people complained and started boycotting Activision/Microsoft then changes would be made

that would only happen if like 75% of subscribers stopped subscribing and complained about the prices. i dont see that happening.
