It's an opinion article asking the year old question of whether or not there should be a Final Fantasy 7 remake or not. There are arguments for the remake, and Against it.

Square Enix has already went on record saying that developing this game would cost an absolute fortune, as it would have to be done to the same quality as Final Fantasy XIII in order to appease the fans. You have to wonder though – surely the return from the game itself would be astronomically higher than the production costs? Even if the game cost millions upon millions to make, the fact remains that the fan base for the product is so vast that millions upon millions of copies will actually be sold.

Can we just move on from this? If the game was so great, just go back and play it again. It doesn't need a remake just to warrant another playthrough.

The main reason you won't see a remake is one people often overlook. You start the game as a terrorist. In the current climate that's not going to go down to well. Shame as I love the game.

That really is one of the worst reasons I've ever heard from anyone, what the heck are you on about? Have you not seen the terrorist crap COD is spewing out?

Anyway, I don't want a remake, I'm perfectly happy playing the game as it is on my PSOne, if people want to play it so badly, buy it from the PSN or buy it for PSOne again, simple.

Instead of a remake, they should do a Final Fantasy VII-2, like with X and XIII. I really do not count Crisis Core as a VII-2 because it is a prequel.

It just won't happen, people need to get over it. And as much as I would love for it to happen (I've beaten the game multiple times), Square probably doesn't see the point in it unless it is a 60$ title.
