Are cutscenes in video games really helping with the story in the game? Could too much cutscenes be ruining the experience or limiting player's movement? Read on for more as GP blogger, RDAwesome presents his point of view.

When it comes to media, the two most important things to me are story and character. Whether it be movie, book or game, I want to be drawn in by it. It's for this reason that I prefer the action/adventure and, to a greater degree, RPG genres in games. Unfortunately, these genres (especially RPGs) are afflicted with a terrible and awesome thing: Cutscenes.

i dont have a problem with cutscenes as long as they are skippable. most times ill watch them the first time, but i DO NOT want to have to watch the same cutscene 20 times if i keep dying in a particularly hard section. it would be great if there was some kind of governing body for video games and one of the rules was that every games' cutscenes HAD to have a skippable option somehow. i know that sounds silly but unskippable cutscenes are one of the most annoying things ever. if i hit "continue" i want to be able to start playing as soon as its done loading.
