With the natural improvements of gaming systems and how much technology is moving forward it's exciting to think what could be on the next generation of consoles but PCs' hold the upper hand in the graphics department with a perfect example of the GTA mod in the article.

They won't be though.. Playstation 4 will be like $500-$600 as always. A PC to play games to a visual standard better than Playstation 4 will cost $500-600 if that. PC gaming is not all that expensive anymore, yes there are still set ups you can buy that are super bucks but they are overkill.

At a certain point, PC gamers who constantly praise better graphics just come off as elitist. Besides, games are more than just graphics. A game doesn't have to look amazing to be fun, and fun is what people should be looking for.

Amazing looks is not meant to be fun. It's meant to immersed you the digital world you're playing in. Don't you want to explore a realistic post apocalyptic/alien world instead of crappy looking texture job pretending it's NYC? Or cars that suddenly appear from out of nowhere due to the lack of view distance? You could say you don't need a 3-10 miles view distance but wouldn't it shatter the experience if there's an unexplainable fog that maintains a 1.5 mile distance from you all the time? You can ignore it but you know it's there, following you, judging you.

    Here's the point :

    Graphic : immersion
    Gameplay : fun

Have only one of the other, you have a decent game. Combine them both that you have a stellar game.

    Okay, a few points.

First, while PC's may have higher processing power and computing capabilities, they also lack a singular optimised build. When you don't have to take into account the dozens of different parts someone's computer could possess you get a lot more out of the machine.

Second, since most games on PC are multiplatform they're not going to be using some of that extra power anyway. They'll try they're hardest to use technology compatible with all the machines.

Does this completely close the gap? Maybe not. Does it matter anyway? No. Believe it or not, I just want to play fun and interesting games. If you think you need a supercomputer's worth of graphics to keep yourself immersed, then go right ahead.

Exactly. Because of multiplatforming my pc have lasted this long! So far since 2009 I was looking around what else can up my PC with. I ended up with 2 extra hard disks instead. Thanks to multiplatforming the need to upgrade a PC every 6-12 months is fast becoming a myth. If developers can make games look better and better on a static tech on the consoles, imagine what happens if they actually exploit the unused extra power in the PC. Some developers say the PC's a bitch to develop game on but some also said the same about the PS3. Whatever happened to Microsoft's promised about XNA able to make development between an XBox and PC versions more efficient? So far the XNA is X Box only.

So what's up with the paying 5 times the price comment whenever a better looking PC game/version appears? It's a myth.

I guess no one told developers from Poland that the PC is not a great platform to make games with. We have the Witcher 1 and 2 and soon Hard Reset, a PC exclusive FPS. These guys are making games engines from almost out of thin air and they always start with the PC regardless of what others say what a bitch it is. Whatever happened to the old Western PC games pioneers (id, Epic for example) from 90s who were never deterred by the troublesome PC? Only the modders are what's left of those pioneers' legacy.

What I yawn at is the prospect of spending 3 hours trying to figure out my mouse pointer isn't showing up in game, downloading driver updates, and looking at tiny ass text because no pc game seems to have an hdtv mode, where the resolution doesn't make the text impossibly small to read.

I love my computer, built it myself, and it can run games. I don't wanna fight with it because weird compatibility issues though. Plug and play, and most games are spec'd so consoles can run them anyway so they should care.

hahaaaaaa, I just got me a new PC gaming rig. Better graphics than my PS3 by far, and I love it. Yeah it cost a lot, but it sets me up for years to come, and if I need better graphics, I can buy a new video card, for way less than a 600$ PS3. Just remember that the 600$ price was for the PS3, not even the PS4. I can't even imagine.
