For the current fan base this is going to be an instant pick up but what about new fans? There isn't going to be a demo so your best bet would to go pick up Oblivion which costs next to nothing these days and give it a go as the prospect of a demo would threaten the November 11th release date as being gigantic (5-10gb).

I know Skyrim will be fantastic, but new games in general should get Demos.

Why must I waste 60 dollars on a game that will be terrible?

It pisses me off when they release a demo months(or years) after it originally came out, like COD:WaW.

the only problem is how do you make a demo for an open world game?

Saints Row did a great job of it, but yeah. If you're not going to buy a game like Skyrim cause they didn't bust their balls trying to find a way to include enough of what the game is to interest people who have no faith. Then *bleep* the whiny twats.

use a quest that takes place in a dungeon or large building where the player is confined in a decent sized area, so they can explore to some extent but obviously not have access to the whole game world.

or if you want to show off how cool the landscape looks outside, you can make an area with a bunch of trees and stuff in the way so the player cant leave that pathway. like a path inside a chasm or something say a hill or mountain on one side and some tall trees on the other that are close enough that you cant fit through. "look but dont touch."
