A blog about why video game movies tend to not be so great, what is it about taking a popular video game series and bringing it to film that seems to always end up bad?

Similar to superhero games, video game movies should have some success but never seem to be that great. Many of the best video games have been brought to life on the big screen (Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Max Payne) but they rarely hit the mark and are criticized high and wide for their poor acting, bad story, cheesy effects, or any combination of those things and more. It has been a curiosity of mine why video game movies don’t work and I have put a lot of thought into the topic. I think I may have come up with a solution and I’ll try to piece it together for everyone.

video game movies do not work because video games are way more profitable then movies. movies did 12billion in 2009 music did 6million and games did 26million. video game movies are only made when the games hit the end of there road or alike. movies cost more to make too. all those movies named above came out after they hit the prime of there sales and made the movies because there games where no longer the huge hits. so the reason they suck is because they are made out of a need for new profits. but also games are all CGI and in movies a full movie as CGI is not always good. hard to translate a game into a movie. easier to make a movie a game.
